Overview of Copy Requests

Copy requests are a feature that allows you to duplicate content from your ScreenSteps account and send it to another ScreenSteps account. This process can be used to copy an entire site, a course, a manual, a chapter, or an article, creating a new, independent version of the content in the recipient's account.

Background

Copy requests are not enabled by default. Both the sending and receiving accounts must have this feature activated by the ScreenSteps team. If the feature is not available, you must contact ScreenSteps support to request activation ([email protected]). This ensures that only authorized accounts can send or receive copied content.

How Copy Requests are Used

Copy requests are especially useful for consultants or organizations that need to distribute standardized content to multiple clients or partners. For example, a consultant can create documentation in their own account and then use a copy request to provide a client with a baseline version of that content. After the copy is made, each account can customize their version independently, as changes in one will not affect the other.

Important Considerations

Copy requests operate at the account level, meaning only users with account admin permissions can access and use this feature. Site admin users do not have the necessary permissions to initiate copy requests.
