Common Cause
This issue is often caused by firewalls, web filters, or browser security tools blocking requests required for image uploads and rendering.
Troubleshooting Steps
Follow these steps to identify and resolve the issue:
- Test Across Articles and Files
- Test in multiple articles
- Confirm the issue is not isolated to a single file or article
- Review Firewall or Web Filter Settings
Work with your IT team to check for:
- Blocked or restricted domains related to media hosting
- Web filters that block “unrated” or unknown domains
- Security policies that prevent embedded or background requests
You may need to explicitly allow domains used for image upload and delivery.
- Resolution if it's a firewall/web filter issue
To resolve the issue:
- Update your firewall or web filter settings to allow access to required media domains
- Ensure that requests to these services are not blocked or restricted
- After updating settings, refresh the editor and test again
Once the necessary domains are allowed:
- Image uploads should work normally
- Existing images should appear correctly in the editor
- Verify It’s Not a Permissions Issue
- Confirm that the issue persists even for admin users
- If admins are also affected, permissions are likely not the cause
- Check for Browser Extensions
- Temporarily disable extensions such as:
- Ad blockers
- Privacy or security tools
- Temporarily disable extensions such as:
- Test on a Different Network
- Try accessing the editor from another network (e.g., home network or mobile hotspot)
- If the issue disappears, it is likely caused by your organization’s network configuration
