How to Format Your CSV File for Bulk User Import

Choose the Correct CSV Template

  • If using Single Sign-On (SSO) (e.g., Microsoft Entra, Google, Salesforce): use the remote user template.
  • If not using SSO: use the standard template.

Format for SSO (Remote User) Import

  • Columns:
    • first name (optional)
    • last name (optional)
    • remote user (true for all rows)
    • login (usually same as email)
    • password (leave blank)
    • email (required)
    • group (ScreenSteps group name)
    • role (account admin or site user)
    • deactivated (leave blank unless deactivating; use true if needed)

Format for Standard Import

  • Columns:
    • first name (optional)
    • last name (optional)
    • login (usually same as email)
    • email (required)
    • group (ScreenSteps group name)
    • role (account admin or site user)
    • deactivated (leave blank unless deactivating; use true if needed)

Save and Upload

  • Save your file as a CSV.
  • Upload the CSV into ScreenSteps.
