Overview of PDFs in ScreenSteps

ScreenSteps is a knowledge operations platform that provides an online knowledge hub for searching, browsing, and accessing content. While the platform is designed for real-time, cloud-based updates, there are situations where having a PDF version of your content is necessary, such as sharing with auditors or board members.

How does it work?

In Screen Steps, you start by creating one or more PDF templates. Each template can be customized, such as adding your logo, modifying CSS, and changing colors. Once you create a template, it is applied every time you generate a PDF from your content in Screen Steps.

If you prefer not to create a detailed template, that's perfectly fine—it's simply an option for customization. After creating a template, you must add it to your Screen Steps site to enable the site to use that template when generating PDFs. Additionally, there are settings in Screen Steps that need to be adjusted to allow article downloads from the manual or chat. Therefore, some settings configurations are necessary.

What are some of my customization options?

Your options for customizing the PDF template includes (but is not limited to):

  • Ability to name your template
  • Margin adjustments
  • Page orientation settings
  • Adding a heading
  • Footer customization
  • Font and color changes
  • Title page customization
  • Adding custom CSS
  • Template customization through HTML
  • Option to modify existing settings
